Exciting GGIT Changes are here!!!

The GGIT is committed to becoming even more member-focused. We are introducing positive changes that will benefit both the GGIT and the GA National Guard. Here’s what you can expect:

  • New Hybrid Administration for SSLI Benefit (effective 1 Sep 25)
    Starting September 1, the GGIT ‘s SSLI benefit program will be administered by both GGIT and AFBA/5Star (our trusted insurance underwriter since 2017).

What does this mean for you?

  • No changes in Basic SSLI coverages or premiums, unless requested by you.
  • New insurance product – Above and beyond Basic SSLI, the GGIT will offer an additional life insurance product, Enhanced SSLI, for GA Guard members. Larger coverage amounts are now available for the whole family!
  • Guaranteed Coverage – Soldiers and Airmen are guaranteed coverage up to $20,000, no matter what health conditions exist. Spouse and children are guaranteed coverage up to $10,000.
  • Increased Insurance Briefings – More visits during drill weekends to help you understand your benefit options.
  • Streamlined communication – See who to call in the red box above!
  • Extended SSLI coverage (effective 1 Apr 25) – Your policy term is extended by 5 years! Your coverage will now continue to age 70, instead of 65, without any increase in premiums.

These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to enhancing the benefits and service available to the GA National Guard community. We’re excited for the positive impact these updates will have!

  • Claims paid within 24 hours
  • Free $1,000 death benefit to all currently serving GA Guard members.
  • Free $10,000 of insurance for New Enlistees
    • Coverage starts the day you sign up
    • After 12 months free, your $4 allotment will begin unless you cancel
    • After the first year, you can add spouse and dependents to the coverage
    • Should you separate, you can retain your coverage at the same price.
    • No exclusions
